3. Jingle Bells

You may know this song as the most classic Christmas songs. Many people argue that this song isn’t actually a Christmas song. That may be true, but “Jingle Bells” will always be synonymous with Christmas.

This song’s story is that James Lord Pierpont wrote this song about Massachusettes hamlet of Medford in 1857. Anyone from Medford will tell you that the song was composed there in a tavern. However, this song was actually written during a snowless winter in Savannah, GA. James Pierpont was just newly married to the mayor of Savannah’s daughter. “Jingle Bells” was written, performed, and published all in Savannah, GA.

Bing Crosby, an American singer, was attached to this song from the very beginning. The song was initially a flop. However, the next year, the song became very popular. To this day, “White Christmas” is known as the best-selling single of all time.
