The new year has already been an eventful one for Pearl River, a piano brand we are proud to sell at Miller Piano Specialists but one that many consumers have not heard of. Also in the spotlight is the historic piano manufacturer Schimmel, maker of some of the finest luxury pianos in the world. Pearl River and Schimmel have entered into a historic relationship with one another and formed an alliance that promises to greatly benefit both companies now and in the future.
Pearl River is actually the largest manufacturer of pianos the world over, and has a finely tuned production base and sales network centered primarily in China. Pearl River even manufactures pianos for other, better-known brand names, and is a master in the art of promoting and marketing pianos accessible to the everyday person.
Schimmel, on the other hand, boasts smaller production numbers, but is famous for top-of-the-line pianos in competition with such luxury brand names as Steinway or Bösendorfer. Schimmel manufactures in Germany and other parts of Europe, and sells primarily to Europe and North America.
Together, the two brands are slated to experience immense growth in both their sales and notoriety with their combined skill sets, markets, and specialties—though the two companies will still be owned, managed and directed independently of each other. Hannes Schimmel-Vogel, managing director of Schimmel, says, “This move is opening a whole new chapter in our 130-year history as a family business.
