Helping Nashville Make More Music

There is music within all of us. Sometimes it just takes the right instrument, the right support, and the right place to start.

At Miller Piano Specialists, we exist to help more people access the joy of music. Whether you’re investing in a first piano for your child, returning to music after years away, preparing a sanctuary for worship, supporting students or musicians in a studio, or looking for an instrument that inspires your own creativity, our goal is simple: help you find the right piano and support you long after it arrives home.

We are a local, family-owned and operated piano store in Nashville, Tennessee, serving families, musicians, teachers, churches, schools, studios, and institutions throughout Middle Tennessee and beyond.

From piano sales and rentals to tuning, repairs, refinishing, moving, storage, events, workshops, and learning programs, we are here for every step of your musical life.

A Different Kind of Piano Store

Buying a piano should feel exciting! We know many people walk into piano stores with their guard up. They expect pressure, confusing pricing, or a salesperson trying to close a deal before they fully understand what the customer needs.

That is not how we operate.

At Miller Piano Specialists, we believe in guidance. We encourage questions. We explain the differences between instruments. We make pricing transparent online. We listen to your goals, your budget, your space, and the kind of musical future you are trying to build.

Then we help you find a piano that fits.

Our job is not to sell you the most expensive piano in the room. Our job is to help you find a reliable, inspiring instrument that supports your music for years to come.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create more music makers by making the path to music easier, more accessible, and more inspiring for all.

That mission shapes everything we do.

It is why we offer new, used, acoustic, and digital pianos for different homes, goals, and budgets. It is why we provide rentals for families who are just getting started. It is why we host recitals, workshops, writers nights, group programs, and community events. It is why we have built an in-house service team to support tuning, repairs, regulation, voicing, refinishing, moving, storage, and more.

A piano is not just a product. It is a doorway into creativity, discipline, connection, worship, expression, and lifelong learning.

We are here to help more people walk through that doorway.

Our Story

Miller Piano Specialists was established in 2001 by Ross and Sylvia Miller.

Their story in the piano business began years earlier as college students at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. What started as a student job became a lifelong passion. After about a year teaching, they returned to piano retail and spent more than 40 years serving families, musicians, and the piano community.

In 2001, they opened Miller Piano Specialists and built a reputation for honest guidance, trustworthy service, and a genuine love for helping people find the right piano.

As Ross and Sylvia prepared for retirement, they wanted to pass the business to someone who would protect that reputation and continue serving customers with the same care. They found that in Travis Mitchell, a retired Yamaha executive, and his son Forrest.

After more than 18 months of transition, and after operating the business day to day since February 2023, Travis and Forrest took over Miller Piano Specialists completely on April 1, 2024.

Today, we are proud to carry forward the foundation Ross and Sylvia built while expanding what Miller Piano Specialists can offer to the Nashville community.

After more than 20 years in Cool Springs, we relocated to a larger, more convenient showroom in South Nashville. This new space allows us to better serve customers with a dedicated performance area, learning programs, in-house service, repairs, and more room for the Nashville music community to gather.

Built on Service

The piano industry has not always made ownership easy.

Too often, a store sells a piano and the relationship ends there. Customers are left to find their own tuner, mover, repair technician, teacher, or next step.

We believe that model is broken.

At Miller Piano Specialists, we are building something more complete. We want to be the trusted destination for every piano need, not just the purchase. That means helping you explore music, choose an instrument, find a teacher, rent before buying, attend events, connect with other musicians, move your piano, maintain it, repair it, store it, and upgrade when the time is right.

We support the whole musical journey.

That is why we have expanded our services to include full-time on-staff piano technicians, professional piano moving, rentals, storage, refinishing, tuning, repairs, regulation, voicing, and more. By bringing these services in-house, we can provide a smoother, more reliable experience from the showroom to the living room, studio, sanctuary, or stage.

Every Piano Is Prepared With Care

Every piano we offer is inspected, serviced, and approved before it is delivered to a customer.

Before we bring in a pre-owned acoustic piano, we inspect it to make sure it is structurally sound and free from major issues that cannot be resolved. Once a piano enters our inventory, it goes through a detailed preparation process that includes interior and exterior cleaning, technical servicing, repairs as needed, tuning, regulation, and final review.

Our technicians dedicate hours to preparing each piano so it is ready to play, ready to inspire, and ready to be part of someone’s life.

Before delivery, another team member reviews and approves the piano. If a customer has a concern after delivery, we evaluate it and address it according to the piano’s warranty.

We warranty all of our pianos because we stand behind what we sell. Acoustic pianos include a 100% lifetime trade-up program, and digital pianos include a 100% 2-year trade-up program. That means your piano can grow with your needs, your skill level, and your musical goals.

Who We Serve

Music looks different in every home, classroom, church, studio, and stage. That is why we serve a wide range of piano owners and music makers across Nashville, Middle Tennessee, and beyond.

Many of the people we work with are families choosing a piano for their home. Some are parents investing in their child’s first lessons. Some are helping a growing student move into a better instrument. Some simply want music to become part of everyday family life, which we’re all about!

We also serve churches, schools, teachers, studios, songwriters, recording studios, professional musicians, independent artists, retirees, hobbyists, and adults returning to music after years away.

No matter where you are starting, our role is the same: to listen, guide, educate, and help you find a piano that fits your goals, space, budget, and the kind of musical life you want to live.

You don’t need to know all the right terms before you visit. You do not need to be an expert. You only need curiosity, and we’ll help with the rest!

Our Team

Miller Piano Specialists is powered by people who care deeply about pianos, music, and customer experience.

Travis Mitchell, owner, brings more than 40 years of piano industry experience, including leadership roles with Yamaha Corporation as Director of Piano Channel Sales, National Sales Director, Key Account Manager, and District Manager for the Yamaha Keyboard Division. After retiring from Yamaha, Travis saw an opportunity to help reshape the piano industry by shifting the focus from products alone to service, support, and long-term success in music.

Our piano specialists, technicians, movers, administrative staff, and support team work together to make the experience clear, welcoming, and dependable from the first email, call, text, chat, or showroom visit to delivery, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, events, and beyond.

Our team brings deep product knowledge, technical skill, piano history knowledge, and a genuine love for helping people find the right path in music. Whether you are brand new to piano or have been playing for decades, you can expect patient guidance, honest answers, and support that continues long after the sale.

Together, we are here to make piano ownership easier, more transparent, and more joyful.

A Showroom for the Nashville Music Community

Our South Nashville showroom is more than a place to shop for pianos.

We built a dedicated performance space because we believe music grows best in community. We host recitals for local music educators at no cost, including recording and streaming support. We are also expanding group events, writers nights, workshops, local musician features, student programs, and other opportunities for people to gather around music.

Nashville is a city built on music, but music does not only happen on big stages. It happens in homes, churches, classrooms, studios, rehearsal spaces, and small moments of discovery.

We want Miller Piano Specialists to be a place where those moments are encouraged.
