Miller Piano is proud to announce that Jan will begin immediately to contribute her experience and unique background to the team of specialists helping middle Tennesseans with their piano needs.
Jan is a native of Moultrie, Georgia and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Degree in Marketing from Mercer University in Macon, Ga. After graduation, she lived in several cities across the United States before returning to Georgia to raise a family and pursue a career in piano sales.
She began her career in the greater Atlanta area with Market Link Services, a company specializing in high impact promotions and turnkey operations for piano dealers in the music industry.
In addition to sales, she was involved in coordinating and planning events which allowed her to work closely with the majority of the most recognized piano manufacturers in the industry.
“I was very fortunate. My training and product knowledge is a result, in part, due to the manufacturers’ representatives, who would come in prior to the events. We were usually selling ‘Brand A’ one week, ‘Brand B’ the next and so forth and we had to keep up with product changes or new technology. I was extremely lucky, too, to be working with some very successful, experienced sales people in the industry. I’m grateful to them; their patience and willingness to teach contributed to the successes I’ve enjoyed. It really was ‘on the job training’ all the time!”
Jan relies on her experience to help her clients, whether an individual, institution or organization, select the right piano for their needs. After enjoying success in the institutional side of the industry, Jan moved into retail piano sales working for Tadlock Piano Company.
She spent several years there with a company that represented the two largest manufacturers in the world, before joining Forbes Piano, one of the oldest family-owned piano houses in the country. Jan joined Hall Piano Company in May, 2011 bringing over 20 years of experience in the music
industry.
“I was honored to be contacted by Steven Kinchen and John Wright. The piano industry is small and Hall’s reputation for integrity and longevity in an ever changing industry is an established fact. It’s been that way since they opened their doors in 1958.”
Jan has been getting her desk set up today, August, 22, 2013 and a new era at Miller will now begin. Her unique brand of humor and deep product knowledge will fit nicely with the serious, yet light hearted hospitality folks experience when they visit Miller.
Her experience is most apparent when different manufacturers are being compared because she has sold most every line in the industry.
Yamaha and its marriage of tradition and technology is nothing new and a large reason Jan has joined the Miller Piano Sales team.
In addition to music, she enjoys trips to Pennsylvania to visit her son Clay, cooking, cross stitching, sports and reading. Come in and visit with her at your next opportunity.
You’ll see why we’re thrilled for her to call Music City her new home.
