German Seiler SE278 PE KONZERT 9'2" Grand Piano

The Seiler SE278 PE Konzert is a 9’2” hand-built German concert grand with an extraordinary story. Crafted in 2015 at Seiler’s historic factory in Kitzingen, Germany, this particular instrument was selected by the manufacturer to serve as its flagship international touring concert grand. We believe it to be one of only 12 ever produced, with just 3 known to us in the United States, making the SE278 an exceptionally rare instrument with a history to match.

A Concert Grand with a Remarkable History

From 2015 to 2020, this piano traveled across Europe representing Seiler at concerts and industry events before being presented at the prestigious NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, in January 2020.

Plans were in place for an extensive U.S. tour of universities, concert halls, and other performance venues, but the global pandemic brought those plans to a halt.

Instead, the instrument remained at Seiler’s U.S. headquarters in Gallatin, Tennessee, where it was housed and maintained for a few years. When Seiler’s American operations relocated in 2025, Miller Piano Specialists had the opportunity to acquire it. Rather than continuing its international travels, this remarkable German concert grand is now available in our Nashville showroom.

German Craftsmanship, Designed for Musical Expression

The SE278 represents Seiler’s approach to concert grand design, combining the depth and dynamic range of a full-size concert instrument with an emphasis on tonal clarity, sustain, and expressive control.

Its solid spruce soundboard incorporates Seiler’s patented Membrator design, engineered to enhance resonance and tonal development. A German Renner action and Abel hammers provide the mechanical foundation for precise articulation and control across the keyboard.

A great concert grand isn't simply about volume. It's about the ability to bring out an inner voice, sustain a melodic line, shape a phrase, and explore subtle contrasts in musical color. The SE278 offers a different interpretation of the concert grand experience from the more familiar Steinway and Yamaha designs, and one that deserves to be experienced firsthand.

Personally Reviewed by Concert Pianist Joseph Fleetwood

This particular instrument was personally reviewed by concert pianist Joseph Fleetwood at the 2020 NAMM Show.

In his published Piano Buyer review of this very Seiler SE278, Fleetwood praised its rounded tonal character, remarkable sustain, and ability to preserve clarity through complex musical passages.

He was especially impressed by its subtlety and expressive capabilities, finding it particularly well suited to classical repertoire, chamber music, song recitals, and recording. His perspective offers a valuable independent assessment of this instrument's musical personality and what distinguishes it from other concert grands.

Concert-Ready, with Custom Touring Cases

Finished in polished ebony with traditional brass accents, this 9’2” instrument has the commanding physical presence expected of a concert grand.

It also comes with its original custom touring cases, including separate protective cases for the piano body and its legs and lyre. These are particularly valuable for a performance venue, institution, or professional pianist who may need to transport the instrument.

Our technicians have prepared the piano through precise concert-level regulation, voicing, and tuning. It includes a matching artist bench, a 10-year limited manufacturer in-home warranty, and Miller Piano Specialists’ 100% lifetime acoustic trade-up program.

A Rare Opportunity to Own a Piece of Seiler History

With an estimated worldwide production of just 12 instruments, the Seiler SE278 PE Konzert is a concert grand that few pianists will have the opportunity to experience, much less own.

This particular example stands apart even among those few. From its years representing Seiler internationally to its appearance at the 2020 NAMM Show, where it was personally reviewed by Joseph Fleetwood, it carries a documented history that makes it especially noteworthy.

For a serious pianist, collector, or institution seeking a concert grand beyond the ordinary, this instrument offers a rare combination of German craftsmanship, musical possibility, and historical significance.
