Joel’s Journey
Joel’s love for piano began as a young teenager when he discovered his deep connection to piano music through dreams. Night after night, he heard beautiful compositions in his sleep, only to find them mirrored in the Classical Piano records his mother had tucked away in a cupboard. This serendipitous discovery led Joel to begin playing the piano at the age of 13 and immerse himself in the study of Classical Music. By 25, he expanded his talents to include Fingerstyle Guitar, teaching both piano and guitar privately.
Originally from Salem, Oregon, Joel first began tuning pianos at age 15. After a brief apprenticeship with a professional tuner, he got his start tuning floor pianos at Cascade Piano in Portland. Over the years, he honed his skills, working for universities, institutions, and families. Now based in Nashville, Tennessee, Joel has spent the past decade building a reputation as one of the area’s most trusted piano technicians.
Highlights of Joel’s Career
- Accomplished Composer and Performer: Joel’s original compositions have been featured on Enlightened Piano Radio, Whisperings Radio, and River of Calm. He was recently invited to perform one of his works at the iconic Opryhouse Studio A in Nashville.
- Institutional Expertise: Joel has provided tuning services for Fisk University, Martin Methodist College, and other esteemed institutions.
- Diverse Musical Influences: His compositions are inspired by Classical Music, American Folk, and Pop traditions.
